My fear for my daughter’s future increased with each new year of high school. This caused stress and distance between us and her growing academic apathy. I specifically remember pushing her to file college applications only resulting in her pushing back and our relationship severing, irreparable for decades to come.
This girl, who I was sure could be an attorney with her incredible memory, creative mind, and off-the-charts debate skills, refused to plan for college.
My daughter and I were estranged for years. I regrettably walled my feelings off for her. Two decades after high-school graduation, she renewed her faith in Christ. She asked for my help to get her life in order. After mentoring over 60 teens, speaking at youth events, and becoming a Stephen Minister, God transformed me to become the mother she needed during one of the most confusing years of her life.
In my teens, my mother, though a godly woman, couldn’t help me since she was preoccupied with work when I was in High School. I didn’t have the nurturing and guidance needed to make important life decisions, so I did things the hard way. I joined the Air Force and didn’t graduate college until I had two children.
I now know the secrets to avoiding this trap, and I’m reaching out to homeschool moms like you who are willing to become a scholar of their teen, partner with me and God, and set their child on a path toward a fulfilling purpose.
